The Immune System

The immune system protects us from germs, but it has other important functions and one of the most relevant to Autism is the way in which our immune system allows us to tolerate the range of foods which we need to eat.

Much has been said elsewhere about food intolerances and allergies and one of the important first steps we take is to identify these and modify the diet so that they can not harm the body any longer.

In general terms, any food to which we are allergic or which we can not tolerate can do us harm.

In the context of Autism these foods are important for several reasons, foods which we can not tolerate cause irritation and inflammation in the intestine (which further disturbs the balance of bacteria in our intestines) and because we can not fully digest foods to which we are intolerant there is the probability that we
